TL;DR: When you buy a product through links on FurCalc, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps keep the calculators free. Commissions never influence our formulas, rankings, or which products we recommend.

How to identify affiliate links on FurCalc

Every affiliate link on the site has two visible markers:

  • A small ad · Chewy or ad · Amazon tag next to the link
  • An HTML rel="sponsored nofollow noopener noreferrer" attribute (Google + FTC standard)
  • A “Recommended products” section with the disclosure repeated above every product shelf

If a link does not have this tag, it is an editorial reference (research citation, data source, guideline link) — not an affiliate.

What programs we participate in

  • Amazon Services LLC Associates Program: We earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.
  • Chewy Affiliate Program: Pet food, supplies, and pharmacy products.
  • Occasional partnershipswith Petco, Farmer's Dog, Nom Nom, Ollie, BarkBox, Furbo, and vet-specialty retailers when relevant to tool topic.

We do not accept payment from veterinary-drug manufacturers, supplement brands, or any company whose products might bias our YMYL (toxicity, drug-dose, medical) content.

Editorial independence — hard rules we follow

What we DO
  • Recommend products we'd genuinely use
  • Disclose every sponsored link inline
  • Write all content before looking at affiliate offers
  • Honor free alternatives when they're better
  • Remove products that receive recalls or FDA warnings
What we NEVER do
  • Change calculator formulas based on sponsor preference
  • Rank products by commission size
  • Hide negative reviews to protect affiliates
  • Feature affiliate products on toxicity / drug-dose pages
  • Sell or share your email to affiliate partners

How to opt out

If you'd rather not use affiliate links, simply search for the product name directly on your preferred retailer. Our content is the same either way — the affiliate tag is just a tracking parameter that credits us if you buy within 24 hours.
