About

Licensed Veterinary Technician with a board-recognized specialty in nutrition β€” VTS (Nutrition), Academy of Veterinary Nutrition Technicians.

At FurCalc, I lead editorial. That means I fact-check every calorie formula, body-condition score reference, and feeding-chart number against primary sources: NRC Nutrient Requirements of Dogs and Cats (2006), AAHA Weight Management Guidelines, and WSAVA Global Nutrition Guidelines. If a number on this site is wrong, that's on me.

My path to nutrition: 10 years as a vet tech, last 5 at a referral specialty hospital with a board-certified veterinary nutritionist as mentor. I worked clinical nutrition cases β€” diabetic cats, renal diets, weight-loss protocols, recovery-from-cachexia patients, hepatic diets, and large-animal ration formulation.

I believe the 'right' number on a calculator only matters if it comes from peer-reviewed evidence. I make sure it does β€” and when research changes, I make sure we update.
